With the high school football season set to start this weekend across the US, Inform Sports is recapping the first 6 months of the year during the 7v7 circuit season. Over the course of the 7v7 season we covered several top 7v7 events and tournaments capturing countless plays and games leading to some epic highlight reels. Thanks to this we put together a list of the top football players during the 7v7 season with the goal to spotlight players in the off-season and preview players to watch during the tackle football season and see #Doesthetapematch?

  1. Johntay Cook - WR - Trillion Boys - 2023

Johntay Cook is an electric wideout committed to the University of Texas. As a trackstar in the football offseason Cook is often the most athletic on the field. He showcased his talent in both sports for Desoto High School ‘23. Electric is the best way to describe Cook. Good luck guarding him on any double move. We love his style and that he plays with a chip on his shoulder. 

  1. Ja’Kobi Lane - WR- Tucson Turf - 2023

Jakobi Lane is a lengthy wide receiver from Red Mountain High School's 2023 class. Jak has yet to announce his plans but it is expected that as the #1 receiver in Arizona he ends up at an elite destination. If you’re sleeping on Jakobi Lane, you’re badly mistaking. He’s as talented as any receiver in his class and has the frame to match standing at 6’5”. While playing for Tucson Turf he played his best against top talent in big matchups. We expect him to make major waves this fall and put everyone on notice that you “cantguardJak”.

  1. Carnell Tate - WR - SFE - 2023

Carnell Tate is a crucial piece of the offense at IMG Academy ‘23. The star receiver has incredible body control and shiftiness and will be displaying his skills at Ohio State. SFE is loaded with talent and Carnell Tate is a dream receiver to pair opposite of Innis. His catch radius reminds us of DeAndre Hopkins. All you have to do is get the ball somewhere in his vicinity and he’s going to make a play.

  1. Desmond Ricks - DB - Miami Immortals - 2024

Desmond Ricks is a stud corner out of the powerhouse IMG Academy’s class of 2024. Desmond was starting by his sophomore year and the 5 star holds 37 division 1 offers to his name. Ricks will line up and battle with anyone. A big physical corner that has the speed to run with fast receivers. As a ‘24, he’s only going to improve from here. Best believe he will be a day one starter at the next level! 

  1. Dante Moore - QB - C1N - 2023

Dante Moore is an Oregon commit from the class of 2023. The consensus 5 star played QB for Martin Luther King High School in Detroit. Dante Moore woke people up at OT7 leading C1N to a finals matchup against SFE. Moore’s accuracy and decision making is really what makes him a special talent. You can trust him as your QB as he’s going to make the right decisions and ball out.

Brandon Innis is a 5 star wide receiver out of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale. Brandon, an all around beast, is taking his talents to Ohio State ‘27. Innis is a straight DAWGGGG. A bigger receiver that still can put the shakes on a defender. Size, speed, strength… If you need a score to win the game, it’s best to look his way.

Cormani McClain ’23 is a dangerous 5 star defensive back out of Lake Gibson High School. Although not yet committed, Cormani has his pick of the lot and experts predict he will end up at University of Florida or FSU. His presence is always felt on the field. Cormani shuts down his whole side of the play area for opposing QBs. If you decide to throw his way he makes you pay for it.

  1. Malachi Nelson - QB - SFE - 2023

Malachi Nelson is a consensus top QB across the board in the ‘23 class and for good reason. The lean 5 star dominated at Los Alamitos High School and is continuing his academic and athletic career at USC. Malachi is a proven winner and dominated the 7on7 scene with SFE at every tournament. Any game he’s in expect to see some highlight worthy throws. His ball placement with throws to the sideline showcased his arm strength and accuracy.

Zach Branch is an elite 5 star wideout from Bishop Gorman High School’s class of 2023. He was offered by all the top schools in the nation and will be headed out West to USC in the fall. He’s a dynamic receiver with elite speed that can run any route. The most exciting player to watch whenever he’s on the field. What other player have you seen get triple teamed in a 7v7 match? Only Zach.

Nico Iamaleava, a talented QB and terrific leader on the field, Iamaleava is a standout athlete in the ‘23 class. Committed to the University of Tennessee Iamaleava is a stellar athlete with a strong work ethic on and off the field. We love QB’s that compete all year round and Nico balled out at every event he was at. His release makes every throw look easy. We believe he’s the best QB in his class and is going to prove that this fall. When you see those pajamas, you know you’re in for a long day!
